Initial Consultations at Lopez Law Group, LLC

As immigration matters often present obstacles to resolution that may not be apparent at first glance, Lopez Law Group requires that all potential clients schedule an initial consultation with Attorney Lopez for a preliminary case assessment. Lopez Law Group offers in-person and telephonic consultations by appointment. Potential clients should call the office at (608) 270-5550 to briefly discuss their case with our paralegal staffand, if necessary, set up an initial consultation with Attorney Lopez. Please see our Contact Us page for information on how to contact our office.

The fee for initial consultations, whether the consultation is conducted in person or by telephone, is $185.00 per hour for family-based cases and general immigration matters and $200.00 for employment-based cases. All consultations have a minimum duration of one hour. For in-person appointments, the consultation fee is paid at the conclusion of the consultation. If you schedule a telephonic appointment, your payment must be received in advance of your consultation. We accept personal checks, bank cashier's checks, money orders, and cash as payment. We do not accept credit or debit cards.

Follow-up consultations in connection with matters not discussed during the initial consultation are charged at the $190.00 per hour for family-based cases and $210.00 for employment-based cases, with a minimum duration of one hour. Consultations scheduled without a signed legal representation agreement do not entail a commitment to take the case, and the clients are not obligated to retain our services. After the consultation, if you wish to retain Attorney Lopez as your attorney of record, Lopez Law Group will prepare a legal representation agreement for your consideration.

Preparing for Your Consultation

Prior to your consultation, Lopez Law Group will send you general information about our firm, which includes a description of the consultation process and a detailed list of documents to bring to your consultation. We also send clients detailed questionnaires to complete and bring with them to their consultations. In addition, we recommend that you bring a list of potential topics to the initial consultation in order to make sure that Attorney Lopez addresses all your questions.

During Your Consultation

During your initial consultation, Attorney Lopez will analyze your situation and identify the best strategy for your case based on the information you have provided. She will then discuss legal fees and costs for the case, which are determined according to the anticipated complexity of each case and the investment of time each case will require.

When you meet with us, the success and productivity of your initial consultation depends in large part upon your willingness to be honest and forthright, and to trust the attorney with the details of your potential case. Before your initial consultation is over, you should have a clear understanding of the potential avenues for the resolution of your case, the steps required for your case, the estimated costs, and your role in ensuring that your case progresses efficiently.
